On your way out to the fishing grounds, we will lift crayfish pots, where we will explain the regulations and show you how we measure this famous Kaikoura delicacy. You are encouraged to participate in this and is an excellent time for photos. We then head out to the fishing grounds, where the commonly caught species are Blue Cod, Sea Perch, Red Cod, Tarahiki, Rays Bream, Sharks and many other species.
Your fish is filleted and bagged, ready for the pan. Or catch and release if you prefer.
While filleting the fish, we are normally joined by a vast variety of sea birds that inhabit the Kaikoura coastline, such as the Giant Royal Albatross, Mollymawk, Petrels and many others, which allows photographers to capture these magnificent birds up close.
